VIABILITY OF WASTES GLASS FOR THE PRODUCTION OF CERAMIC BRICKS | Author : Á. C. P. Galvão; A. C. M. Farias; L. G. M. Souza | Abstract | Full Text | Abstract : Currently are consumed large quantities of materials for the construction of popular housing. Based on this situation, the work aims to produce ceramic blocks with the reject of crushed glass (resulting from the stoning in glassware). The glass powder was evaluated by laser granulometry, X-Ray Fluorescence and X-Ray Diffraction. The cylindrical specimens composed by cement, sand, gypsum, lime and ground waste glass were made. The glass waste underwent by sieving process, obtaining a glass powder thinner (160 µm), which provided a better mixing between the constituent elements of the composite. A practical use of the composite would be the production of lightest constructive block with greater thermal resistance and cheaper than those produced by conventional materials. From the characterization of these ceramic blocks obtained with the glass waste was achieved to identify the thermal comfort conditions and mechanical resistance. It is important to consider that the use of powder glass in the manufacture of blocks implies the reduction of glass waste, which probably would have been discarded in the environment. |
| INSECTICIDES VEGETABLES ON THE CONTROL OF ANASTREPHA SPP. (DIPTERA: TEPHRITIDAE) IN GUAVA ORCHARD. | Author : F. R. Azevedo; C. A. M. Santos; D. R. Nere; E. S. Moura; L. S. Gurgel | Abstract | Full Text | Abstract : Aiming to evaluate the effects of vegetables insecticides on Anastrepha spp. in orchard of guava, two researches in Barbalha were conducted, from may 6th to June 24th of 2011, testing Pironat ®, Rotenat ® and Natuneem ®. To evaluate the effect on adults, 20 McPhail traps baited with protein corn hydrolyzed at 5% were settled, evaluating the number of insects captured weekly. On the evaluation of the effect on larvae, we collected at random 100 fruits, cheking the presence of larvae alive and dead. Three applications were made of the products in both experiments with a motorized costal atomizer, with evaluations accomplished weekly. The Pyroligneous extract of Pironat® repels the adults of Anastrepha spp satisfactorily, while the azadirachtin present in Natuneem®, promotes insecticide effect on the larvae in the field conditions, which these products showed greater efficiency after the second application. Although these vegetable products don't causes 100% of control, they can be used in agroecological Anastrepha ssp. management in guava orchards, therefore are cheap, of easy application and don’t cause environmental impact in terms of risk of toxicant residues in the fruits. |
| LANGMUIR AND FREUNDLICH MODELS ADEQUACY IN THE COPPER ADSORPTION IN CLAY SOIL OF SOUTHERN BRAZIL | Author : M. S. Gonçalves; J. P. Bettin; L. C. S. Silva Junior; S. C. Sampaio; T. C. This work had as objective to study the adequacy of the models of Langmuir and Freundlich to describe the adsorption of copper in a Rhodic Hapludox soil with clay texture. To determine the adsorption capacity of copper in the soil, we used 2.000 g of soil added 10 mL of CaCl2 0.01 mol L-1 and 10 mL solutions of CuCl2 with different concentrations. The maximum adsorption capacity of copper in the soil, determined by the Langmuir model, was 2.95 mg g-1. Moreover, the results showed that the Freundlich model showed better fit to the experimental data, adequately simulate the adsorption of copper in the soil under study. |
| A STUDY OF VERBAL PROCESSES IN SCIENTIFIC ARTICLE GENDER IN JOURNALS OF EXECUTIVE SECRETARIAT: A PERSPECTIVE OF SYSTEMIC FUNCTIONAL LINGUISTICS | Author : K. C. A. Portela | Abstract | Full Text | Abstract : This research aimed to investigate the scientific articles in the area of executive secretariat, through the of verbal processes, frequent verbal forms and patterns of use, to help students, researchers and professionals in training Executive Secretaries in producing scientific articles. As a theoretical basis, the Systemic Functional Linguistics (SFL) was used, which studies language in use in different contexts - was developed by Halliday (1985, 1994) and reviewed by Halliday and Matthiessen (2004), among others.. From this perspective, the research considers the ideational metafunction, based on verbal processes (i.e. say), as the analysis category. With regard to the scientific study of genres, the research is based on Bhatia (1993), Swales (1989, 1990), Swales & Feak (1999), Motta-Roth (1995, 2006) and others. The computational instrument WordSmith Tools 5.0 (Scott, 2009) was used to map on data starting by wordlisting and concordance, particular tools that allow patter identification. We studied 161 articles, in English, selected from three online magazines in the Executive Secretariat area, that area does not contain publications in Scielo yet. The results showed that the most frequent verbal processes were: mean, determine, highlight and affirm, and that the most frequent verb forms were: 3rd person singular, passive and infinitive. Furthermore, the identified patterns showed that some had no verbs function process and, speech high rates were reported. |

| EVALUATION OF HYDRAULIC CONDUCTIVITY ON COMPACTED SOIL APPLIED TO LINER AND SLOPE STABILITY ANALYSIS TO WASTE LANDFILL FOR SOLID OIL DRILL RESIDUES | Author : A. C. Pereira; F. Q. Porto Filho; O. Freitas Neto; R. N. F. Severo | Abstract | Full Text | Abstract : This study aimed to evaluate by means of laboratory tests, field tests and numerical simulations, of characterizing the natural and compacted soils used in landfill design and construction industry in the oil sector. For the construction of the landfill was necessary implementation of an experimental program to characterize the subsurface of the landfill site area from SPT and Geophysical testing, characterization of the three soils (Soil "1" Soil "2" Soil "3") used in the construction of the landfill, the evaluation of potential soil contamination by means of infiltration tests, evaluation of slope stability. The three soils analyzed were classified according to USCS as MH, GM and SC respectively. From the trials in the field of infiltration by the method of concentric cylinders was determined hydraulic conductivity of compacted soil that was approximately 10-7m/s. The strength parameters of soils were obtained by empirical correlations that related to cohesion and friction angle of soil with plasticity index of soils. As recommended by the NBR 11682/2009, we applied a factor of cohesion and the mitigation was thereafter performed slope stability analysis by method of Fellenius, Bishop and Janbu. The slope stability analysis by limit equilibrium methods, show the equilibrium analysis of slopes with safety factors calculated for various methods induces to the upper range minimum (FSmin = 1.5) for each method. |

| EXCURSUS ON CONCEPT COUNTERCULTURE | Author : A. de Lima | Abstract | Full Text | Abstract : The counterculture phenomenon, since the last century 1970s, has been the subject of several studies by social cientists, semiotic, poets and other scholars. The intense rebellion wave that marked the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s on the western world, is always discussed in a dichotomous approach related to bourgeois capitalist society model, whose racionality was despised and countered by "beats", "hippies" and "cool people" that swell the ranks of the conventionally called counterculture. This job addresses the couterculture another perspective and point to the possibility of understanding this phenomenon as a result of the dinamic of their owner culture, being part of the required deviant behavior that moves and transforms creatively scenarios by which cultures express themselves also as part of them. We support our reflection on authors such as Roszak (1972), Maciel (1985), Pereira (1985), Bauman (1988, 2012), among others. |
| SILICATIC DIMENSION STONES OF PERNAMBUCO STATE | Author : F. M. C. Oliveira; T. M. F. Kálix; M. L. S. C. Barros; E. B. Melo; P. O. B. Morais | Abstract | Full Text | Abstract : Dimension stones are materials that add value through standard color, design, texture and grain. According to Mendes e Paiva (2002), Pernambuco is inserted in the Borborema Province of evolution marked by great tectonics mobility, alternating compressive and extensional regimes. In the region there were 3 distinct tectonic events, in which deposits of non-oriented rocks (granitoid) and moved rocks (orthogneisses and migmatites). Ten litho types were cataloged: Red Brown, Samba Red, Salmão Lagoa, Imperial Pink, Frevo Granite, moved rocks, and Sunset Red, Red Ventura, Red Ipanema, Yellow Ipanema, being the “Imperial Brown” the one that stands out most commercially, isotropic materials. The physical indices of seven of these materials suited to values determined by Frazão & Farjallat (1996), while the compressive strengths of four rocks are below this chart. Only one rock has lower flexural strength and other low resistance to trampling. The physical and mechanical properties of the rocks of Pernambuco, compared to those proposed by Frazão & Farjallat (1996) attest good quality materials and can be used on surfaces with high trafficability; high mechanical strength; low absorption and porosity indicate their suitability for wet locations noting, however the mineralogical composition. |
| A COMPARATIVE STUDY OF THE CHEMICAL PROPERTIES OF ASPHALT BINDER OIL RESIDUE AND ASPHALT BINDER | Author : P. R. N. Fernandes; A. E. V. de Alencar; J. B. Soares; R. M. Cavalcante; R. F. do Nascimento; S. A. Soares; M. D. T. Casagrande | Abstract | Full Text | Abstract : In this work, the main chemical characteristics of asphalt binder oil residue were studied and compared to the properties of the corresponding asphalt binder. The Nuclear magnetic resonance and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy spectra indicated the presence of aliphatic groups, aromatics, carbonyls and sulfoxides. The thermogravimetric curve showed that the residue begins its thermal decomposition at a higher temperature, probably due to lower content of maltenic fraction. Hydrocarbons polycyclic aromatics (HPAs) were extracted from the maltene fraction using chromatographic methods such as: matrix dispersion in solid phase, chromatographic adsorption in column and gas chromatographic. The results indicate that the materials present toxic HPAs, as well as, mutagenic and carcinogenic. |
| EMERGING NARRATIVES IN HIGH SCHOOL: EDUCATION & HUMAN RIGHTS | Author : E. M. N. DIÓGENES; F. A. de Andrade | Abstract | Full Text | Abstract : With this article we enter the field of Human Rights related to secondary education. Here we have an experience report concerning an extension project entitled “Continuing Education in Human Rights for Middle School Teachers” which was finalized this year. This aimed to introduce the theme of human rights in the educational field in Alagoas, Maceió more specifically, a city known problematic as it is the minimum guarantee of the rights of citizens who inhabit it. To this end, the project was developed within a public school high school and involved an in-service training for teachers of this level of basic education throughout the years of 2010 and part of 2011 (May). So in this article do three major approaches: the first deal of historical and political foundations of Human Rights Education in Brazil. On Monday, we discussed the project methodology and results, and the third: point out the challenges and possibilities for those facing the difficult task of dealing with this issue within the classroom of the school as “knowing” rather than “charity”. |
